Title: Adding Videos to Time To Rock
Tags: Videos, Music
Blog Entry: Ive had a few emails from people trying to watch videos on this site that are hosted on Youtube and just embedded into this website. They worked originally but now have been pulled by Youtube. People have been asking if there is a way to bypass youtube and get the videos directly up on our servers. Well there is ... it can be a bit long winded, but it is also fairly simple. And the benefit to us of you uploading videos directly to our servers instead of embedding Youtube videos is that our logo appears on the video instead of Youtube's logo and advertising bumf. So how do you get the videos from Youtube on to TimeToRock? First of all you need to go to another website http://www.downloadyoutubevideos.com/ On that site you can enter the Youtube URL (web address) of the video you want to download and follow the instructions to download it on to your own PC. Before you do anything else go back to the youtube page listing all of the videos that came up in your search for the one you wanted and right click on the image for the video and save the picture to your PC. Then go to the file you have downloaded. It will be called get_video unless you renamed it before saving it to your own PC. If you haven't already renamed it, right click on the image and select rename file and call it whatever the artist and song is, eg Iron Maiden - Run To The Hills. You also need to add the suffix .flv when you rename the file. This makes it a Flash Video File (which is what our site uses). Then you can go on to our site and select the upload video option and upload your file as normal. When the video has uploaded you will be asked for an image for the video. Browse your PC and select the image you saved from youtube. That is it. Simple (ish). OK it seems complicated at first but after you have done it once it really is very easy. Mark Administrator
